Artist Statement

As I travel through my days, I find myself drawn to places and objects that others disregard as ordinary, unremarkable or even undesirable. What captures my heart is the opportunity to reveal these subjects – to show what would be otherwise unseen. I’m always wandering to the backs of places to see what exists behind, down, over.

When I spend time in the presence of these scenes and humble objects, their essence emerges, a beautiful geometry in the form of angles, alignments and repetition. They may seem marginal to most, but to me they are majestic and surprising beings, each emanating its own unique story and voice. The opportunity to use my creativity to tell their stories has a spiritual aspect to me. I regard these subjects with emotion and aim to capture their personalities with my camera, sharing with others the richness waiting to be unveiled in that which is all around us.
